After just getting over the flu, I managed to catch a cold. Honestly, I think the cold was worse than the flu. The symptoms came in phases. The first day I had a fever and a tickle in my throat. Each day was a new symptom; sore throat, loss of voice, coughing, sneezing, stuffy nose, runny nose and finally back to the stuffy nose.
Today, the fifth day of my cold, I had a dentist appointment. Thankfully, most of the coughing and sneezing were gone by this point but my sense of smell had vanished. After discovering that I did not have to get rid of my wisdom teeth, I decided to celebrate and pick up some Lush Cosmetics from my local mall. I don’t usually go to Lush because there are usually too many scents for me in the store and it makes it difficult for me to breathe (I have allergies. It smells lovely though). Given that I couldn’t smell, I figured it was safe to venture into the store I’ve been wanting for a long time to visit. They have a variety of cruelty free handmade products. They have everything from bath bombs, lip balms to face masks and eye shadow.
The lady at the store was wonderful. She helped me pick out scents that would be good for people suffering from colds. After five minutes of being in this store, my scent started to come back. I figured it was because of all the essential oils. The strong scent of lemongrass really helped to clear my airways! I ended up buying two “You’ve been Mangoed” bath oils, Avobath Bomb, and Rosy Cheeks Fresh Face Mask. I haven’t used the mask or the bomb yet but I can tell you one thing; they both smell amazing. I bought the face mask because I am very pick when it comes to rose scented things. I only ever buy them if they truly smell like natural roses which this face mask does! The other items I purchased were a given because the lemongrass helped me smell again! I wasn’t about to give them up!
When I got home, I took a nice warm bath with Epson salts. Then I plunked one of the You’ve Been Mangoed bath oils into the tub and enjoyed the strong smells of lemongrass and mango. The product left my skin feeling very soft! My boyfriend came home and his first statement was ‘Yum! I smell lemongrass.”
Lush Purchased Products:
I was satisfied with my purchase (even though I told myself to save money because I have no money). I had one more stop before heading home; The Body Shop. I love their tea tree products. I always feel so refreshed after using them. My favorite tea tree product has always been their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash. It smells amazing, helps remove makeup, and leaves my face feeling refreshed. I wanted to try a new product so I bought their Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet because I’m finishing up a few other products but I can certainly say it smells amazing (now that I can smell). I also bought their tea tree facial wipes (I can’t seem to find them on their website) which I have used many times in the past. I love them. I only use one wipe to remove the makeup on my face and it always works the first try. It never leaves me face feel raw or scratchy.
The last thing I purchased was The Body Shop’s, “British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter.” This smells amazing and as I stated earlier, I love real rose scents. I only used a little bit on my hands but as expected, it made my skin feel soft and smooth.
All and all, I love every product I purchased today. I am very excited to use each and every one of them.
